I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest and objective review.” I have now read all of the McGill series---and the final book is an excellent conclusion to the series. Author brings a number of his characters from other titles and I think contributes to the storyline. The plot was good and well executed...the final sequence, I thought was particularly well presented. (I wondered how it was going to come together). Mr. Flynn is an excellent storyteller and, has some great characters of considerable depth. If you have not read any of the McGill series, you are in for a treat. Should you read the last first, you will go back an read the previous 9. I would have written this review even had I not received a free copy.Product details

As with all the other books in the McGill series, I was pulled in from start to finish by character development and involvement, intrigue and finally closure - all tied up very nicely! The only problem is this is the last of the McGill series - however, did I see teasers that indicate we will see some of the characters again? The parallels between events in the book and things happening today are eerie at times. Flynn's ability to include so many events all over the world without losing the reader in the weeds is amazing. Great read!
I very much enjoyed this book by Joseph Flynn, one of my favorite suspense authors. I loved how so many levels of differing actions were easily and smoothly integrated for the reader to follow along. I am always thrilled to be able to keep up with favored characters in this series. The author does a beautiful job of keeping the reader on the edge of their seat wondering what will happen next. All in all, a fabulous reading experience. Well done. A wonderful closing chapter to the President's term in office.....opening another door to further adventures as Jim McGill's international PI offices are able to branch out to any type of situation....making for many more adventures we readers can look forward to. Highly recommended.
I have read all of the Jim McGill series and this 10th title does not disappoint. Flynn has produced an amazing set of characters—men and women —and packed this finale with enough suspense and action to satisfy any dedicated mystery buff. The story is fast paced, and it is fun watching the primary characters find solutions to their monumental problems. While the main character is Jim McGill, and the male cast of characters are unique in their own way, I love Flynn’s ability to create solid, believable female characters – the President, her chief of staff, her personal secretary, McGill’s partner Sweetie, a host of FBI, local police detectives…well you get the point. All are strong, interesting, and brilliant. They are equal in every way to their male counterparts, and unfailingly pragmatic while staying committed to their ideals in their personal and professional lives. Only Lee Childs’ female characters come to mind in comparison, but Flynn has excelled by creating broader and more complex personalities. There is no doubt I will be going on to other Flynn series while waiting for some of these characters to resurface in new novels.
Oh my gosh I love these characters. Flynn's writing in this latest story is at it's best. Plenty of action and intrigue as Jim McGill is targeted for assassination and President Patti Grant must face down China and possible nuclear war in her waning months as POTUS. At the same time VP Jean Morrisey is running for President while her fiance fights back from a debilitating stroke.
The action in this book is seen from every participant's perspective which is one of the things I love about Flynn's books. The reader knows what everyone is thinking and it's great fun to see how it all works out.
You don't have to have read any of the previous Jim McGill novels to enjoy this one, but you will be missing out. These characters are lots of fun, even the bad ones, and I feel like Jim McGill is the sassy little brother I never had. I'm hoping for more novels with these characters even if Patti's reign as President is over. McGill Investigations International has just gotten off the ground.
I was actually given a free copy of this book for an honest review or I could have read for free with my unlimited but I chose to buy it so I could keep my book series together. I love this writer and have read every book he's published, a great author. Although I only gave this book a 4 the series is very close to a 5. I won't go into the story as you can read other reviews that are more informative , suffice it to say this was a good read, an excellent series and author, and I wish we had a Cool Blue party (kinda dumb name) but the idea is great. I would definitely vote for their candidate
Last Chopper out is a fitting title for the conclusion of President Patricia Grant's stint in the White House. The book is well written in view of the fact that it incorporates most all Joe Flynn's favorite characters (who are quite diverse) . From the President's Henchman to Last Chopper Out we see James J McGill rise as one of Flynn's favorite protagonist. He has adeptly set up enough future plots to keep us all reading his books for years. One of my favorite characteristics of the Flynn novels is his ability to write with several featured characters in multiple genres. An example is life in the white house to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and John Tall Wolf. Last Chopper out is full of intrigue-domestic and international with the plots pulled together nicely. If you have enjoyed prior Joseph Flynn books you will not be disappointed in Last Chopper Out and will be looking forward to Jim McGill's next adventure or perhaps the next occupant of the white house. A good read and fairly priced.
